So, I decided that instead of one devo a week, I’d write two. Anyways, the topic about this devo is joy, the second of the fruit of the spirit.

In the class I was a part of at church camp, we used the definition from Microsoft Word; “Feelings of great happiness or pleasure, especially of an elevated or spiritual kind.”

One verse I really appreciated was James 1:2-4.

² Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, ³ because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. ⁴ Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

What the teacher of this class said went somewhere along the lines of this: “We have a hope, no, an assurance, that no matter what was done to us today, we have Heaven after this life here.”

What I’ll leave you with to think about today, until Saturday, are some of the lyrics to the hymn Blessed Assurance.

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! O what a foretaste of glory divine!

Angels descending bring from above, echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

Perfect submission, all is at rest; I in my Savior am happy and blest.

First Devo!

I’m Tyler. You can call me Tyler, or Lanson. I will be your friendly devo poster. I will attempt to post a new devotional every Saturday, however, I may post early or late, depending on the week.
This week, I was up at a God-blessed week of Church Camp. On Tuesday, a friend from back at home sent me a postcard. On the front, it had a picture of a very large Boeing jet used by the USAF for refueling. Seeing this, it quickly reminded me of the Fruit of the Spirit, which was the theme of the week.

Galatians 5 22-23:

²²But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, ²³gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

This jet, I felt was a symbolic representation of the Spirit, because it was refueling the Lockheed. And in our daily lives, the Spirit refuels us with all of his fruit daily.
